Find out more about Nadja Jacke
Nadja, where are you from and where do you live now?
I grew up in Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt. The various stops were Karl-Marx-Stadt, Wolfen-Nord and then Stollberg / Erzgebirge. Today, I live in Bielefeld, in the beautiful East Westphalia, where I found my home.
How would you describe your artistic style?
That's not an easy question. I like my photos colorful and bright. Likewise, I like clarity and patterns. Especially in the forest but also in flowers are these to be found. With my photos, I would like to present the ordinary, as we walk past every day, in an artistic and curious way.
What's on top of your bucket list (as an artist or just as a person)?
As an artist, I would like to see a little more of our planet. I am very interested in Northern Europe: Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Scandinavia. But I'm exclusively drawn towards nature. As a person, I would like to do a chin-up without support.
Analogue or digital?
Digital.
New York or remote mountain hut?
Remote mountain hut.
Becks or Merlot?
I don’t like either. Just Water, please.
And a little Proust: What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Being with my husband. Be it going for a walk around the beautiful Obersee in Bielefeld, the Teutoburg Forest or the beach of Formentera.
Which living person do you most admire?
I admire no one in particular. But I admire people who are always calm and firmly anchored in themselves. And people who, no matter what happened to them, get up and follow their paths.
What do you consider the most overrated virtue?
I don't know.
What or who is the greatest love of your life?
My husband Torsten.
If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be?
A cat in an loving and warm home.
The world needs more...
love.
I’ve changed my mind about…
the institution of the Church - it's not equivalent with faith in God. After a very interesting conversation with a priest, I became more open to the topic of "having faith in something". He showed me that a man of the church does not necessarily want to force his faith on you. He asked the right questions for me, so I thought about some things that I had believed to know thus far. I too believe in something - in myself and in nature.
What most people don't understand is that…
we only have this one planet and that it should be the most important for us to protect and preserve it.
For each art print you buy, Nadja Jacke and Photocircle plant trees in Ethiopia.
