But a closer look reveals a trend, a common thread that runs through the interior potpourri.

And that’s important simply because not only does our own interior style tell our visitors who we are and what we like, but mostly because it also has an influence on our well-being. When we come home after a long day and feel right at home, the colours, furniture designs and art prints speak our language and every part is pleasing to the eye – then that’s just good for the soul, isn’t it? And the better we know what styles we really like, the easier it is to find the right decorative and furnishing pieces that give us joy daily.

In this section of our magazine, we want you to get acquainted a little more intimately with a handful of interior trends. Today we’re going to talk about one of our personal favourites: the Mid-Century Modern interior style.

The Mid-Century Modern interior style

In the Mid-Century Modern interior trend, tried-and-tested meets modern design. While some vintage furniture can seem a bit heavy, almost overwhelmingly so, this style is rather light because it features smaller, more delicate pieces as well. It is also unfussy and clean in its shapes and lines.

As its name suggests, this trend is based on the prevailing style of the 1950s (and to some extent the 1960s) and adheres to the famous Bauhaus motto “form follows function”. So this très chic interior style is also practical.
