Find out more about Emanuela Carratoni
Emanuela, where are you from and where do you live now?
I'm from Capena, a little town close to Rome, Italy.
How would you describe your artistic style?
I started my career as an architect, then became a photographer and an eclectic artist. I have always been attracted by the organic shapes and colors of stones such as agate, amethyst, crystal and marble. I love to photograph and collect these pieces, capturing their beauty through my work and adding graphic details to make them shine. I also love experimenting with new styles and, for example, mix geometry with the moon and stars to create magic figures.
What's on top of your bucket list (as an artist or just as a person)?
As a person I'd love to visit the extreme place of Tierra del Fuego, as an artist I would love to be published in a famous magazine (like Vogue, for example...).
Vector or watercolor
Both! I love experimenting with various artistic techniques, materials and digital.
New York or remote mountain hut?
Mmmm... a remote island with cristalline water?
Becks or Merlot?
Merlot of course, I'm Italian!
And a little Proust: What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Explore and travel with my boyfriend Fabio - and with a lot of cameras to take a lot of pictures of everything.
Which living person do you most admire?
My parents of course, for their love and patience in supporting me.
What do you consider the most overrated virtue?
I think normality is overrated today, I prefer a touch of madness.
What or who is the greatest love of your life?
My boyfriend and colleague Fabio, and my dog Umbapooh.
If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be?
For each art print you buy, Emanuela Carratoni and Photocircle plant trees in Ethiopia.
