Find out more about Christine Wawra
Christine, where are you from and where do you live now?
Born in Stuttgart, I grew up in a small Swabian town (they're both in Southern Germany), and after a stopover in Munich, I now live at lake Chiemsee, Bavaria.
How would you describe your artistic style?
There’s something more important than style for me: do I tune in to people in front of my lens with my full heart? The same with nature. Because in my opinion, this energy transfers to the viewer.
What's on top of your bucket list (as an artist or just as a person)?
Some travels of course, South America, East Asia, Middle East as well if possible. Apart from that, I work on „inner achievements“, such as being thankful for my life, my wonderful experiences so far that made me grow.
Analogue or digital?
Photography has been my companion since I was 11 years old. I started with analogue cameras only in the manual mode, and I arranged a darkroom for black-and-white. Meanwhile, I only use digital cameras – and what I am still fascinated by is that you immediately see the pictures you've taken.
New York or remote mountain hut?
New York for a short visit, after that staying extensively in the mountains.
Becks or Merlot?
I prefer Merlot... but I drink alcohol very often.
And a little Proust: What is your idea of perfect happiness?
To be in an remote beautiful place in nature on my own or with like-minded people... taking a bath in wild rivers, walking barefoot over mountain pastures (or on the beach)... shamanic ceremonies, honor the earth.
Which living person do you most admire?
Jane Goddall... humans who support and save animals - because obviously they depend on us and cannot speak for themselves.
What do you consider the most overrated virtue?
Ambition.
What or who is the greatest love of your life?
Music that carries me through dancing for hours.
If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be?
I'd like to come back as myself, but I would not let others intimidate and even thwart me so much anymore... so I would start really being myself much earlier in life.
The world needs more...
empathy.
I’ve changed my mind about…
success.
What most people don't understand is that…
happiness cannot be reached through effort... too much effort will drive them away.
For each art print you buy, Christine Wawra and Photocircle plant trees in Ethiopia.
