Ever since he was young, Eric Lafforgue has been fascinated by far away countries and travelling. He spent some time in Africa when he was 10 years old: in Djibouti, Ethiopia and Yemen. Eric Lafforgue started taking photographs in 2006. Quickly, magazines and newspapers from all over the world, such as Geo, National Geographic and Lonely Planet Magazine began to use his work for illustrations on North Korea, Papua New Guinea or the tribes of Ethiopia. In 2008, his work on the people of Papua was displayed at the prestigious VISA photojournalism festival in Perpignan. Eric Lafforgue spends most of his time travelling the globe in order to share his encounters with others - "through the perception of an ethnologist and the heart of an artist", privileging the regions or populations in danger and less frequently visited countries. He is part of the European leading press agency "Rapho". He works both digitally and on film, and uses Hasselblad H4D-50, Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III, Canon 5D Mark III and Leica M6.
