Jens Rosbach works as a journalist and photographer in Berlin. He has been published in various media and been successful at international competitions - most recently at the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2014 and 2015.

• Jens, where are you from and where do you live now?

  I'm a "northern light", I was born in the North of Germany, in Schwerin. Now I live in Berlin.

• How would you describe your artistic style?

  I'm interested in minimalistic and artistic landscape photography.

• What's on top of your bucket list (as an artist or just as a person)?

  To travel more to the Arctic and Antarctica.

• Analogue or digital?

  I still learned how to insert a film into the camera with closed eyes and how to develop photos in the darkroom. Today everything is digital.

• New York or remote mountain hut?

  Mountain hut. Or a house by the sea.

• Becks or Merlot?

  White wine, and dry please!

• And a little Proust: What is your idea of perfect happiness?

  To be in nature, discover a motif and exhibit the photo.

• Which living person do you most admire?

  Walter Moers.

• What do you consider the most overrated virtue?

  Wearing suits und ties.

• What or who is the greatest love of your life?

  My camera.

• If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be?

  Again as the same man, but with the experience I have today.

• The world needs more...

  authenticity.

• I’ve changed my mind about…

  cantaloupes. I did not like them before..

  less is more.
